Blue Ridge District President, Joanie Strohm, shares about a special United Methodist Woman that she met recently:
“Keep on keeping on!” is the motto of a very special 91 year lady in the Blue Ridge District. She is Frances W. Yelton and she attends Gilboa United Methodist Church.
Ms. Yelton is the only member left in United Methodist Women at her church. She lost her fellow member in 2014 and decided to keep the unit active by making a pledge and keeping it. She also answers every document sent to her and fills it out in a timely manner. In our conversation I could see that not being able to drive has not kept her from attending church, running errands on Saturdays and going to Bible study each week. She has to rely on others to take her to these places, but she “Keeps on keeping on! Her daughter-in-law shared that Frances is also the treasurer of Gilboa UMC!
The Blue Ridge District United Methodist Women honored Frances with a Special Mission Recognition at their 2015 Annual Meeting on August 22nd. Frances shared about her WSCS (Women’s Society of Christian Service) lifetime membership pin that she was wearing Saturday morning.
Congratulations to Frances…who continues to turn faith, hope and love into action on behalf of women, children and youth around the world. Keep on keeping on, Frances!
